For Young Professionals

Alex Long

From humble beginnings working in a regional branch I truly found a passion offering an utmost personal customer service. Our culture at BOQ is all about being enthusiastic about our customers and exceeding all their expectations for a bank. The Banking and Financial Services Oath is an outstanding foundation which truly supports my ethical morals and values. It encourages myself and other signatories of the Oath to improve our society by encouraging the continual awareness and ethical standards within the banking and finance industry.
Working in fraud and financial crimes prevention I encounter numerous difficult cases where ethically and morally right decisions need to be made for our customers. The Oath guides me in my decision making when faced with these tough matters. This makes me proud to be a Young Ambassador.
One thing I will mention to any future Young Ambassador applicants is that you do not need a university degree to become a Young Ambassador. If you truly possess and demonstrate the ethical standards and values that the Oath promotes you will have no qualms in succeeding to champion the Oath.

The Oath

  • Trust is the foundation of my profession.
  • I will serve all interests in good faith.
  • I will compete with honour.
  • I will pursue my ends with ethical restraint.
  • I will help create a sustainable future.
  • I will help create a more just society.
  • I will speak out against wrongdoing and support others who do the same.
  • I will accept responsibility for my actions.
  • In these and all other matters;
    My word is my bond.
