Michael is part of the Capital Advisory team within Westpac Institutional Bank, an area responsible for supporting Coverage and Product teams drive engagement with customers at senior management levels on strategic issues related to M&A/growth funding, ratings advisory and capital management. The team works cohesively with other areas of the Bank to enhance relationship dialogue and position Westpac as a trusted advisor and a partner in change. This principle of building trust and partnership in every customer interaction is an overarching theme in Michael’s day to day work, and like the Banking and Financial Services Oath emphasises, is the foundation to any productive and lasting relationship.

Trust and ethics is often unwritten and good behaviours assumed, however, in reality ethical behaviour in some cases falls secondary to competition, customer wins and profits. The BFSO reinforces the importance of ethics and trust in every decision we make, and provides a framework and network to influence behaviour and spread the word. Trust and ethics in Banking and Finance is crucial – money, financing and wealth decisions are inherently sensitive and emotional topics, and when discussing sensitive topics, people turn to those they trust.
Michael has previous experience in Investment Banking, Wealth Management, and Assurance & Tax. He graduated as a Finance Co-operative Scholar with a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Finance from the University of New South Wales, and is currently completing the CFA program.
